Juvenile Justice Ministry

story

Our JJM ministry in Willmar partners with Prairie Lakes Residential Treatment Programs and local group homes to minister to young people in out-of-home placement and involved in the juvenile justice system. We lead Bible studies, assist with clergy appointments, and maintain a consistent, relational presence in the lives of these teens.

As we search for a new director, we are grateful to rely on faithful volunteers who continue to represent YFC and provide that relational presence in the absence of a staff member. Tom, an educator with Willmar Public Schools, has a heart for these young people and has faithfully served with JJM for the past two years alongside Sal, who works in the logistics department at Nova Tech. YFC could never accomplish what we do without dedicated volunteers like Tom and Sal.

Our desire is to find, win, lift, and keep volunteers. We seek to find people who have a heart for youth, win them to the mission of Youth for Christ, lift them through training and resources, and keep them by creating a culture where they feel valued, supported, and excited to serve. Volunteers are essential to sustaining relational ministry and extending our reach in the community.

Even in a season without a director, the ministry hasn’t stopped—and neither have the relationships. Young people are still being seen, known, and ministered to because faithful volunteers continue to show up. That is something worth celebrating, and a powerful reminder of why investing in volunteers is so essential to our mission.

“If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of GOd. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.”
